Nothing like an unexpected event that will lead to an impromptu episode of #CampFromThePort. I got a chance to meet Cloak The Scribe through mutual social media hip-hop lovers and we’ve remained solid and respectful ever since. I was truly honored and appreciative to be tapped to lend a verse for his upcoming project. Shout to Pots and Pans Audio for making me sound pretty incredible!
We talk music industry and the grind of a true Independent artist doing it all dolo and spending the money to stay afloat. I also find out if Cloak is down to collaborate and sign someone from the 815. And if you listen closely, you’ll get to hear some exclusive audio of what Cloak has been cooking up this quarter.
I can’t give it all away now, but look out for my feature on Cloak’s upcoming project. The track is called “Wormhole”.
Make sure you are following @CloakTheScribe everywhere you can
We left off with Marcus finding out I was 23-24 in #ATL. We pick it up there as I share an untold personal story with a silver lining around that time. That leads us to talking independent #music moves and how I got almost everything I wanted as a #rapper without a deal.
We switch gears totalk Zeke, Jordan and Kobe and wonder if Greatness can pick talent. Then we switch gears again and talk #Capitalism and how it relates to the Jay/Roc Nation, Kaepernick and #NFL situation. It’s new content, different angle and alternative perspective, I promise.
It’s a lot to unpack on part 2 of the #CampFromThePort episode. #podcast #media
It’s cool to talk with other people who were the “only child”. A lot of 80’s babies grew up Latchkey and although our stories are similar, none are truly the same.
Every time I talk to Marcus, whether social media or in person, I love the memories, stories and ideology that he brings up in my mind. He was a “media guy” like I was, but through time and experience things changed. We talk about how basketball was he vehicle to get into ESPN and other media jobs, what made him step away from God and media and we talk our lives as latchkey children on part 1 of this Camp From The Port.
One of my favorite people to follow on Social Media is “G.I Jade”. I feel she’s mastered making people feel or be “triggered” by her statements and opinions.
Jade’s been through some things and I must admit all the great moments didn’t make it to video, but you’re going to get plenty of jewelry!
I wanted Jade to talk to the ladies about having a plan, staying motivated and making it happen no matter what. What I got is an impromptu refresher on authenticity and a lot of great self reflection of who I want to be moving forward. She also helped me on how to deal with friends that can’t spell and my flub or lack of diction on consonant vs continents right after. It’s another dose of good game on #CampFromThePort

This episode I get to sit with one of the #Chicago #Media #Legends! Mike MFN Love! It’s only my 2nd time talking to one of the guys on my “Media Mt Rushmore” but it was an amazing experience!
We talk #Veganism and my wife gave him one of her fire ass pizzas!
We also talk about #radio and he shares a story and gives me game about the industry as well as a deep dive on the famous “Birthday Line “now owned by WGCI. This conversation is why I still do this no matter what my employment status is. Thanks for watching and listening!
I grew up in Freeport, Illinois. A lot of information I personally needed, I wasn’t sure how to get it. I was just told learn computers because they were going to taking over the world.
I sit with one of my childhood friends and we try to hash out all of our thoughts, feelings, emotions and aspirations from 20 years ago.
